Company-wide strategic planning

Strategic planning connects all levels of your organization—from daily work to company goals.

View the strategic planning hierarchy

  1. Go to Planning

The hierarchy is:

  • Objective (top level, e.g., “Improve customer retention”)
    • Theme (mid level, e.g., “Loyalty program redesign”)
      • Issue (individual work, e.g., “Design loyalty tier structure”)

Plan top-down

  1. Create company Objectives representing long-term goals
  2. Break each objective into Themes (work streams)
  3. Link existing Issues to themes, or create new issues within themes

This ensures all work ladders up to strategy.

Track progress

Metrics on objectives and themes auto-calculate:

  • Issue count — How many issues are linked
  • Completion % — What % of linked issues are marked done
  • Story points — Sum of estimates on linked issues
  • Custom field values — Aggregate custom field data from linked issues
  • Manual metrics — Goals you set and update manually

See Define and track metrics.

Report on strategy

  1. Go to Planning
  2. View objective cards showing:
    • Progress bars (metric completion)
    • Linked issue counts
    • Theme breakdown

This gives you a “strategy dashboard” showing execution progress.
